Sophie & David – An Intimate Cyprus Wedding at Vasilias Nikoklis Inn, Paphos
As a Cyprus wedding photographer, intimate weddings like Sophie and Davidโs are always something special. Their untraditional intimate wedding in Paphos was relaxed, emotional, and completely personal, proof that smaller weddings often create the biggest memories.
With just 30 guests, a love for alternative music, and a venue surrounded by the Cypriot countryside, their wedding at Vasilias Nikoklis Inn was designed entirely around connection rather than tradition.
A Pre-Wedding Engagement Shoot on the Coast of Paphos
We began the celebrations the day before the wedding with a relaxed engagement shoot along the Paphos coastline. October in Cyprus brings warm sun, soft light, and earthy tones, ideal for couples planning an intimate Cyprus wedding.
We wandered along the seafront, stopping on one of the piers for portraits with the Mediterranean stretching out behind them. This slow, easy stroll gave Sophie and David space to settle into being photographed together before the wedding day. Afterward, we headed up to Vasilias Nikoklis Inn for a quick tour of the venue, taking everything in before the celebrations officially began.

Wedding Morning Preparations at Almyra Hotel
Saturday morning started at the Almyra Hotel in Paphos, with Sophie and David getting ready on opposite ends of the hotel. Photographing both preparations meant plenty of running around, but it also meant capturing the full story, quiet moments, nerves, laughter, and anticipation building throughout the morning.
Once all the guests had arrived and boarded the bus to Vasilias, we took a moment for portraits of Sophie on the hotelโs stunning staircase, framed by a huge chandelier above her. A calm pause before the day unfolded.

An Intimate Ceremony at Vasilias Nikoklis Inn
After a slightly hectic drive through Paphos, including getting stuck behind a group of goats on the road, we arrived at Vasilias Nikoklis Inn ready for the ceremony. These little, unplanned moments always end up being part of what makes destination weddings so memorable.
Sophie and David exchanged vows in a celebrant-led ceremony under the Cyprus sun, surrounded by their closest people. With only 30 guests present, the ceremony felt deeply personal, emotional, and full of love. There were tears, laughter, and a real sense of togetherness, everything intimate weddings are about.

Drinks, Speeches & a Sunset First Dance
The rest of the day continued in the same relaxed spirit. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception with homemade lemonade before heading to the terrace for dinner. Speeches followed, with friends and family sharing heartfelt stories and their love for Sophie and David.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Sophie and David shared their first dance beneath thousands of twinkling fairy lights, a magical moment and the perfect setting for a intimate wedding in Cyprus.
One of the most unforgettable personal touches was the couple hiring a local tattoo artist, allowing guests to get a small tattoo as a reminder of the day. A bold, meaningful idea that reflected their personalities perfectly.
The night ended with dancing under the fairy lights to all their favourite music before everyone boarded the bus back to the hotel, tired, happy, and full of memories.

Why Cyprus Is Perfect for Intimate & Micro-Weddings
For couples dreaming of a wedding that feels relaxed, meaningful, and intentional, Cyprus is ideal for intimate weddings and elopements. Incredible light, stunning venues, and a slower pace allow couples to focus on what truly matters.
Sophie and Davidโs wedding at Vasilias Nikoklis Inn was a beautiful example of how smaller guest lists can create deeper moments and unforgettable experiences.
