Meeting this beautiful little family and getting the last minute call to cover their wedding
Around last June, Lizzie got in touch with me through instagram in regards to photographing some family time to commemorate their son’s first birthday. We met up at their home and I got to meet this amazing family and photograph some extremely cute playtime in the nursery.
It wasn’t long after I deliver only the sneak peeks in which Lizzie messaged me again to ask if I could cover their wedding in August, only 1 month away! It was extremely fortunate that I had the Friday of their wedding available before a full bank holiday weekend with my first triple header.
I was told of their plans for a civic hall ceremony, followed by some portraits arounds Leeds and ending up at Iberica for food and partying.
Getting married at Leeds Civic Hall
Matt & Lizzie wanted a small and intimate ceremony, so they got married at The Leeds Civic Hall, which is personally one of my favourite Yorkshire registry office wedding venues, due to its amazing architecture by the front of the building and set in Leeds famous Millennium Square.
They got married in The West Room, one of three rooms you can get married in at Leeds Civic Hall. This room features lots of stunning artwork and portraitures, giving a perfect classy backdrop to the wedding ceremony.
Lizzie walked down the aisle by her father’s side, with Matt beaming with happiness as she walked down in her tea length, white lacy dress.
During the ceremony, they wouldn’t stop holding hands and smiling at each other as they shared their vows. Although the ceremony was short, it was nothing but sweet as they shared their first kiss and nearly ran back down the aisle.
Confetti shot of dreams, followed up by cute wedding portraits…
I do love a good confetti shot, and especially when the couple get absolutely loads of confetti and pretty much everyone in their party can be seen in the photographs. I also love a good biodegradable paper confetti due to how big each piece is, making it easily seen in the photos. Following on from the confetti, and getting some fun family portraits in, me, Lizzie and Matt stayed behind whilst the rest of the party went to Iberica for some reception drinks.
I couldn’t resist getting some cute portraits of them in front of the beautiful Leeds Civic Hall. I always try to make these shots as candid as I can, whilst giving some direction, and the pair of them couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at each other which always makes for the most beautiful photos.
We followed up with portraits outside and in their wedding reception venue, Iberica Leeds. We got some beautiful shots both inside and out, getting exclusive use of the upstairs rooms to create some unique wedding photos.
An elegant wedding reception in Leeds City Centre
This was my first time going to Iberica, and I was so excited as from my research online, I loved the art deco architecture and design, and could not wait to see how Matt & Lizzie styled the main room for their wedding.
With some classy stationary and cake to match the decor, along with their florals and bouquet, the room was just perfect.
Following their grand entrance, the party jumped straight into a set of very emotional and full of laughter speeches.
A wedding party of dreams…
To finish off the evening, the couple booked an awesome band to perform for their first dance and for big party vibes for the rest of the night. Once the cake was cut, the dancing didn’t stop.
