Stephen & Eleanor
Almost two years ago, Stephen and Eleanor reached out to me to capture their wedding day at Lineham Farm Weddings, Leeds. From the moment we connected over Zoom, I knew this would be a day to remember. They envisioned a wedding that was sparkly, whimsical, ethereal, and full of woodland magic. But most of all, they wanted to spend quality time with their loved ones, especially those who had traveled all the way from the States to celebrate with them.
During our call, they mentioned wanting photos with their son, Lando. Naturally, I had to ask if he was named after the Star Wars character or the F1 driver, and it turns out it was a bit of both! With that fun little detail, I was even more excited to be part of their big day.
Fast forward to the wedding day itself, and after nearly two weeks of watching the weather forecast with my fingers crossed, the skies were still full of grey clouds, and the rain was on and off. But we stayed positive, hoping for the outdoor forest wedding they had dreamed of.
As preparations began, I walked into the bridal suite to find Eleanor getting her makeup done while her ladies danced and sang along to Chappell Roan and other 90s bangers. It was such a fun, lively atmosphere! After makeup, I watched the magic of her perfectly matching extensions being put in and styled—it was honestly like watching a work of art come to life.
Over with Stephen and his best man, the final moments of preparation were happening—jackets on, buttonholes in place, and the anticipation building. The registrars had arrived, and we were all still hoping the clouds would part, but when the rain persisted, the venue staff and guests quickly rallied to move the ceremony indoors.
Once everything was set, and I had captured all those essential detail shots, the ceremony began. Poor Stephen hadn’t eaten all morning, and the moment he saw Eleanor walking towards him, he almost fainted! But he handled it like a champ, and honestly, I barely noticed.
The ceremony was filled with love and happy tears. Although the rain poured outside, it didn’t dampen the spirits inside. And as fate would have it, the rain finally cleared, giving way to a beautiful afternoon where everyone could enjoy the stunning courtyard at Lineham Farm Weddings.
We quickly moved through the family portraits by the greenhouse doors and even managed to get a big group shot of all the guests. The speeches were incredibly moving, filled with both happy and sad tears as they honored the family members who couldn’t be there. Even I found myself tearing up a bit!
After the speeches, I had the chance to whisk Stephen and Eleanor away for some alone time just before sunset. We headed into the very forest where they were supposed to get married, and for the first time, I got to bring out my lanterns for a wedding where the sunset wasn’t too late. The result? Pure magic. We created some stunning portraits in the forest, and then spent a little time running through the fields in those final golden moments before the sun dipped below the horizon.
As the day turned into night, they returned to their guests for an evening of partying. Their first dance was extra special, with the music performed by a close friend who had traveled all the way from Scotland to be there.
It was a day full of love, laughter, and a bit of woodland magic—a perfect celebration for Stephen and Eleanor. Massive congratulations to you both! Thank you for letting me be part of your unforgettable day at Lineham Farm Weddings, Leeds.
