New Craven Hall Wedding Shoot, Leeds
EDITORIAL STYLED SHOOT WITH A MAGICAL TWIST
New Craven Hall is a stunning wedding venue located in Leeds, UK, known for its industrial-chic vibe and versatile event spaces. Formerly a working mill, it's been beautifully renovated, combining historical charm with modern elegance. The venue offers a unique ambiance with exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and large windows that flood the space with natural light. It's an ideal setting for couples seeking a trendy and spacious backdrop for their special day, whether it's an intimate gathering or a grand celebration. The venue's flexibility allows for personalized touches, ensuring a memorable and picturesque wedding experience.
Last year I had the chance to organise a wedding styled photoshoot at New Craven Hall to show off not only the venue, but also a bunch of amazing female ran wedding suppliers. But there was also an amazing twist that you will have to read on to find out!
My vision for this styled shoot was to go for an urban theme, which New Craven Hall perfectly reflects with its design and decor. I especially loved its small, intimate outdoor space with the neon lights. And for the colour scheme, I mainly wanted to use alot of blacks but intergrated with pops of colour, which you will see from the photos, the team hit this brief perfectly.
Starting off with our model couple, meet Andre & Cynthia. Andre is a close friend of mine who was known for modelling in the past, so when I asked if he and his girlfriend, Cynthia, would mind posing as a model couple for me, they were instantly on board. I told them my ideas and Cynthia was very keep on seeing if we could somehow get hold of a black dress to fit the vibe.
Thats where our dressmaker comes in. We were super lucky to get Kate Clare Couture involved in the shoot as she made not one, but two absolutely stunning dresses! One short, white alternative style wedding dress, and the other a long, black, romantic style dress. These dresses mixed in with some super high heel shoes which I may admit, were way to high! I got them from Asos for those who are asking.
To finish off Cynthia’s look, I asked none other than the awesome Rosie Roberts MUA to give an alternative makeup style and to play around with ideas that don’t often come up for weddings.
As for the details, we had Minnie Bees provide the florals, both the centre pieces and the bouquet, Miss Helen Wedding Cakes to provide an absolutely gorgeous black wedding cake, some awesome gothic style stationary by Creative Tone, and last but not least, venue styling by Parkers Printed. I shall list all the suppliers and their links below so you know where to find them.
As for the twist, a few weeks before the shoot, our model Andre comes to me and asks if he can propose to Cynthia at the very end of the shoot! So with a little bit of planning and set up, I asked Cynthia to face me while Andre stood behind her with the ring in hand. Once I asked her to turn around, for a moment she just assumed it was all part of the photoshoot. When she saw that all of us women who put the shoot together we crying in the corner, Cynthia realised this was real.
And she said yes!!!!
